Restaurant Review: Barbeque Nation

It actually has been a long time since we set foot on the Barbeque Nation, also known as the non-veg paradise. With my exams just being over, this is the perfect time to write something about it, to revive the memories so that the desire to go there again re-ignites. This was on the occassion of my best friend, Achintya's salary hike. Now, you will think what is there to celebrate a salary hike, that happens every year! Then, my dear friend, let me tell you in this "so-called recession", getting a salary hike is really something to celebrate. And, why not, when his oraganisation was also paying a part of it.

So, we four set foot on this place, the Koramangala branch. Reservation is required since they have specific time such as 7 pm, 9 pm. And everyone knows, recession or no recession, finding a free restaurant on a weekend in Bangalore, is a nightmare. The Koramangala Barbeque Nation is located in Koramangala 1st Block, on the way to Outer Ring road, via the Krupanidhi College. It is on the second floor of the building, consists of two floors and has ample parking space for two as well as four wheelers.
Our hostess for the day, Miss Nei, directed us to our reserved seats. The ambience is good if not great. Actually, I felt it quite crowded, but otherwise the interior decoration was nice. The chairs were comfortable, and when they started to serve the starters, everything else vanished from the head.
The buffet consists of 5 veg starters, 5 non-veg starters, a host of soups and main courses and desserts. I do not remember anything from the main course, please find yourself with the help of the pictures. So, the serving started with a live grill in the middle of the table. The non-veg items were: tandoori prawns, Thai fish, chicken mushilka, mutton seekh kabab and Shammi kabab. The veg ones were : Paneer malai tikka, Thai grilled veg, Fruit Kabab, Aachri aloo and Coastal Barbeque Mushroom. Each of the items were unique in taste. I really liked the fish kabab and the grilled prawns. Among the veg, the aloo was really yummy. Thus, started our un-ending quest with the starters. I really don't remember how many times they served the starters, but finally when our stomachs were full, we put down the flag to signal stopping of starters.
Then the main course, it had crab, mutton biryani, paneer and many things. Seriously, so one was considering the main course and after just a taste of some curries (which were not that much great, maybe because we were tasting them in full stomach), we directly jumped to the desserts.

The seven desserts included vanilla ice cream with a host of toppings, hot gulab jamuns, firni, Chocolate walnut pudding, mocha pastry, fruit salad and apple pie. I loved the gulab jamuns as always, had two serving of firni (which looked great being served in small earthen pots), and the walnut pudding. Still do not remember why I forgot the ice cream, maybe my stomach appealed to me!

Our long dinner finally ended. The charges for buffet were Rs. 450/- plus taxes, drinks separate. The verdict: really good place go people who eat non-veg, may not be alluring for vegeterians. Ambience good, though crowded, good for group parties or treats, not good for romantic dates (your date will be offended when you will be more busy eating!). Location is also good, other places where Barbeque Nation can be found in Bangalore are Indiranagar and JP Nagar.
