Two Good Movies!

Pun intended! Just coming back after watching two too good movies.

Number 1: Seven Pounds
Will Smith does it again. I was thinking about the kind of character that he played in 'In Pursuit of Happyness', and the Seven Pounds is really comparable. The story is not similar though. Here, he is the guy who met with an accident in which he not only lost his loving wife but also caused death of a family of seven members. Living with the guilt, he does everything to help people who need help. The catch is he really looks into it that the person is deserving or not. At the end of it, he helps seven needy persons, one with his house, one with his liver (half), one with lungs (his own brother), one with kidney, one with bone marrow, one with his eyes and one with his heart. That makes up for the seven deaths. A nice story and nice screenplay, the whole story becomes clear at the end. I really don't cry at movies, but at times I was finding tears dropping from the end of my eyes. Will Smith is anyway one of the finest actors in Hollywood, and does justice to the character here. I didn't like Hancock much, this one was much better.

Number 2: Defiance
War movie with a different approach. Not focusing on the soldiers who actually fought the war from the front, but on the people who fought from back. This story is about a Jew family, the Bielskys, who lead a group of people (mainly Jews) during the wartime to lead a life in the forests away from being hunted by the Germans (Hitler's men). This is based on a true story. One of the finest war movie that I have seen. The film portrays how a common man becomes a great leader and how he protects those whom he saves once. It also opens up some aspects of the 2nd World War that we might not be aware of (like the Russians were not much help to the Jews). First time I saw Daniel Craig in a non-Bond movie. He did a good job though. At first sight I didn't like him (maybe because he is blond!), but now I guess I am becoming his fan!
