'Slumdog' wins!

At last, Rahman has got his much awaited recognition by the World for his music. I always considered Rahman a genius; with his different genre of music, he was a winner. And, now with Golden Globe, no one should have a doubt.

Coming to the movie, Slumdog Millionaire is a real nice movie. All packed with action and drama and fair amount of comedy. The way each answer opens up a phase in the boy's life makes one stick to the seat with eyes fixed on the screen. The other thing that I can say that India's poverty has always been a 'best seller'. Though with the new India rising, we as Indians do not feel that much comfortable in discussing that, but on screen it makes a nice presentation.

Coming back to the music again, Rahman always rocks. The background score was simply awesome. Be it the scene when the bulky policeman chases two pesky kids, or the scenes where the two kids grow up cheating people. I always like fusion kind of misic, but these are simply outstanding.

Back to the movie, I felt, washing of clothes in public is of great importance! There were so many scenes for that. Yes, I am being sarcastic here. The movie more or less covered every problem that is there in India: poverty, illiteracy, communalism, 'bhai's, to name a few. The screenplay and casting were also great. Every character was well thought off and executed too. Though I felt Amitabh or Shah Rukh would have made a better impression (read more realistic) on the sets of KBC. But, yes, now after watching the movie, I don't think Anil Kapoor has done a bad job.

Finally, it is really the 'feel-good-movie' of the year (or something like that) as the ads say. With the Mumbai carnage, a low-level war cloud, not to mention the Satyam scam, this surely gives us Indians something to cheer about; a refreshing gust of wind in very hot and humid climate.

Well, the ending was good ... what's so 'ahem ahem' about it?

Rahman was (as always) awesome. Previously I thought the movie was awesome too, but now I think it's a formula movie. It has got everything that sales - there has been many movie like this. The only difference is that Dany Boyle knows how to tell a story.
I am not saying it's a bad movie, just that it is over hyped (personally I am furious that Dark Knight was not even nominated) and Indians should take the movie as an example of what foreigners think of India (and politicians should visit Juhu slums).

@Raja
Well there is nothing wrong in portraying the truth. I do not think there would be same reaction if the movie had been from an Indian Director. At least, Danny Boyle did not show elephants! As for Dark Knight, it is a really good movie, but sometimes, it's someone's day.

No, there is nothing wrong. But still it's just a wonderfully directed formula movie. "Indian directors" (read subhash ghai et. al.) would have been unable to control such a nice screenplay ... they will probably end up with a 3 hour movie.

Poverty in India is true and Juhu slums are also true ... but there are other truths that are never spoken off. Kalam once said (probably on Wings of fire) that it's good for a nation to see good news in the front page of news dailies. Which is almost never there ... Dhoni loosing on first page and Anand winning on last but one page.

Well, it is general humane tendency, we always look into the bad things rather than the good things. Like for the newspapers rape, dacoity and murders are best sellers, similarly, as I have already mentioned, India's poor poverty-ridden image is a best seller.
